AirTrain service at New York JFK Airport

Airtrain at JFK airport

The 24-hour AirTrain JFK is the fastest and easiest way to get around JFK Airport. The system connects all passenger terminals to the parking garages, the hotel shuttle pick-up area, the rental car center and New York's public transportation network at Jamaica and Howard Beach stations, where you can make connections to the subway, trains and public buses.

Fares

The AirTrain is free for use within the airport grounds. If you start or end your trip at the Jamaica or Howard Beach stations, a fee of USD8.25 applies, payable by MetroCard (which costs USD1.00). To board the subway, you must pay an extra USD2.90. These can be purchased at the machines located at Jamaica and Howard Beach stations, at the Hudson News stores in Terminals 1, 4, 7 and 8, or at any MTA subway station.

* You can use an Unlimited Ride MetroCard or OMNY card on the subway, but not on the AirTrain.

Between Terminals

The AirTrain connects all passenger terminals. This service is free of charge. Normally, the Jamaica and Howard Beach lines operate in the following order: Terminal 1, Terminal 4, Terminal 5, Terminal 7, Terminal 8, and then proceeds to its origin station. The Central Terminal Train operates in reverse order and only runs between terminals.

Any changes to that routine will be reflected on the AirTrain platform information monitors.

To and from the Parking Lots

AirTrain stations are located adjacent to each terminal's short-term parking lot.

Long-term parking lots are located near the Lefferts Boulevard station, which is connected to the terminals by the Howard Beach Line.

Transportation to and from the hotel and rental cars

All airport shuttles and rental car facilities are located at the AirTrain Federal Circle station, which is accessible via the Jamaica and Howard Beach lines.

Accessibility

All AirTrain trains and stations are ADA-compliant and are equipped with elevators and escalators. There are two designated wheelchair locations on each vehicle. Wheelchair-accessible connectors are available at Jamaica and Howard Beach stations to and from the rail and subway platforms.

For the hearing impaired, there are visual signals on the train and at the stations. For the visually impaired, there are destination announcements on board the train and guide dogs are welcome. There are also tactile warning surfaces on the platforms, as well as signs in Braille and raised lettering.
